Gender Equality Measures

Within this Priority Programme it is our ambition to make a scientific career compatible with family commitments and to support our excellent young researchers. We want to create a family-friendly working environment for all parents and promote equal opportunities. Our gender equality programme stands on two pillars: Creation of a family friendly environment and promotion of career prospects for young female scientists. Members can apply for these funds at any time during the term of the programme.

Family friendly environment

Career prospects for young female scientists

  • During pregnancy or parental leave, PhD students and postdocs will be supported by extra funding for a student assistant.
  • Parents can be supported by extra funding for an establishment of a home workplace.
  • Childcare during meetings, an illness, school holidays or kindergarten closing times will be financially supported. 
  • PhD students will have the chance to meet with companies from the field of applied phage biology to learn more about different career paths and to stimulate innovative thinking.
  • Round-table discussions with female PIs and leaders from industry and academia will support our female PhD students to combine family life and career.
  • Financial support for training courses for young female scientists.
